Abstract:
The Estret de Tragó site shows a sequence composed of 8 archaeological units ascribed to Middle Palaeolithic. In this paper we synthesize the general characteristics of this deposit and review the main trends of the recovered lithic artefacts and faunal remains. The set of obtained thermoluminescence (TL) dates, which are also presented here, fits this sequence in the oxygen isotopical stages 3, 4, and 5. This chronometrical range allows to analyze the problem concerning the occupation of the Southern Prepyraenean slope by Neanderthal groups during Later Pleistocene.
