Abstract:
This paper studies, from the technological point of view, several types of suspended objects of adornment from middle Magdalenian levels at Las Caldas (Levels VII, VIII and IX). These artefacts were made out of different raw materials (horse hyoid bones; reindeer, horse and ibex incisors; and minerals). The presence of similar objects, not only in Cantabrian Spain but also in the rest of Europe, is an indication of the existence of long-distance contacts and relationships among Magdalenian hunter-gatherers.
