The Higueral de Valleja Cave in southern Spain is an important cave for investigating the late survival of the southern Iberian Neanderthals.

Chronological Abstract:
The cave has been occupied by Middle Palaeolithic hunter-gatherers in Marine Isotope Stage (MIS) 3. In addition to that, the cave yielded a Solutrean occupation during the last glacial maximum. Sediments: lower Middle Palaeolithic sequence (X-VIII) and the upper sequence (VIII-V).
