Lakonis I is a collapsed rock shelter with a floor area of ca. 250 qm. It preserves a sequence of over 7 m of brecciated sediments in the form of a rather steeply inclined and wave-eroded remnant, the longest stratigraphic sequence among the Lakonis localities. It is divided into five Units. Units IV-Ib preserve Middle Palaeolithic lithic assemblages. The lithic material from Unit Ia has been identified as Initial Upper Palaeolithic. (Harvati 2003).
