Lost infant? In the recently rediscovered archive of Dorrothy Garrod a letter has been found that mentions the remains of a child, which should have lied directly next to the humerus of Tabun 1 (Smith et al. 1997). However, it is not clear, whether this was a misinterpretation of faunal remains or whether there was indeed the skeleton of a child that has been lost or destroyed during the excavation (for details see Bar-Yosef, Callander 1999, 881).
